Victor Delfin Catalogue Raisonné

About the project

Ongoing project · started in 2025

The Asociación Civil Casa Taller Delfín Civil Association develop a permanent research and documentation project on the work of Víctor Delfín, with the objective of progressively building his catalogue raisonné.

A catalogue raisonné gathers and systematically documents an artist's known works. In addition to basic information such as title, date, medium, materials, and dimensions, it may incorporate photographs, provenance, exhibitions, publications, and other documentary sources related to each work.

The project seeks to consolidate a reference source for the study of Víctor Delfín's artistic production and contribute to its preservation, research, and public knowledge.

Objectives

The project seeks to progressively identify and document the artistic production of Víctor Delfín over more than seven decades of work.

Among its main objectives are:

  • gather and systematize information on the artist's known works;
  • consolidate photographic and documentary records;
  • reconstruct, when possible, information on dates, techniques, provenance, exhibitions, and publications;
  • relate the works to documents and other materials preserved in the Delfin House-Studio Archive;
  • generate a reference source for researchers, curators, collectors, and other audiences interested in the artist's work.

The Catalogue Raisonné is a long-term project and will be progressively expanded as research advances and new works and documentary sources are identified.

Research and documentation

The preparation of the Catalog combines the review of the works and records preserved by the Association with archival research, publications, exhibition catalogs, photographs, press, and other sources related to the career of Víctor Delfín.

A fundamental part of the project also consists of locating and documenting works currently found in private or institutional collections, or in other spaces outside the Casa Taller.

The gathered information is cross-referenced and progressively organized to build a consistent documentary record of the artist's production.

With the aim of facilitating access to this research, the Association plans to publish the Catalogue Raisonné online and free of charge, in successive installments.
